Security Cameras

At each of our two entrances we have a security camera which records the license plate of every car that enters the neighborhood.  If you have an incident and need to look at the video, please contact the Board.

Coppell Police Presentation

At our 2011 annual meeting, Officer Harr with the Coppell Police gave us some very import information and tips.

  • Always lock you car.  The majority of car break-ins happen to unlocked cars.
  • Do not leave anything in your car that someone could steal including GPS and other devices.  Put it in your trunk if you have to.
  • The best way to prevent car burglaries is to park you car in your garage.
  • There are roving thieves who hit neighborhoods and steal alloy wheels and other items.  Your odds of getting them back are greatly improved by engraving a secret number that only you recognize on it.  You should also do that to anything of value that you have in your house.
  • Always report an incident.  If your car or house is burglarized, ALWAYS call the Coppell non-emergency number and report it.  972-304-3610 They use that information to recognize where problems are and increase patrols.  If you do not report it, they are not going to help us.
  • Do not be afraid to report suspicious activity.  That is what they are here for.
  • When a thief breaks into a house, they don’t usually hang around for more than 3 to 5 minutes.  Don’t make it easy for them.  Hide anything important, or better yet, keep in somewhere secure.

Security Suggestions

  • Get to know your neighbors.  Give all of your neighbors your home, work and cell phone number along with your e-mail address.  The best security system is having neighbors looking out for you.
  • Do your part.  Report ANY suspicious activity. Call the police immediately and report it.  Don’t be afraid of calling.  The police are there to protect us.
  • When you go out of town, let your neighbors know and tell them to report any suspicious activity the police immediately.  Stop your paper if you get one and stop your mail.  Ask your neighbors to pick up any stray papers in the driveway or boxes at the door.
  • If you see papers piling up in someone’s driveway, be a good neighbor and pick them up for them.
  • If you park on the street, ALWAYS lock your car.  Don’t leave anything in it for someone to steal.
  • Consider having “bump proof” locks installed on your doors.  Criminals can easily “bump” common door locks and get into your house in seconds.  The local locksmith that installs them is:

Securitex Key Express
KeyExpress.com
1818 N I-35 East #102
Carrollton, TX 75006
Call 972-245-9583

  • Put a stick in the inside track of your windows (or install pin locks) so that windows can’t be forced open.
  • Get a free home security inspection by the Coppell Police Department.  Per Officer Harr,

“I do security surveys for homes, if anyone is interested.  I come out to the house and we do a walk through and I give advise and tips for protecting your home.  Interested neighbors can contact me here at the station to set up an appointment.”
